we have the delays can you expect this morning use head out the door. >> the a's take on the cubs at coliseum but will fans who rely on bart to get there be able to get to the game? >> fireworks show or game and a lot of folks will be trying to go. it will be rough. >> fireworks -- trying to get to work is a blast. and not a good one. >> it is not a blast. on treasure island, we have a report of a stalled vehicle traveling along westbound bay bridge at treasure island we have a stalled car blocking one lane so we could have done without that and we have an accident in fremont southbound long 680 blocking one lane and it sounds like there are injuries involved and you are looking at slowing southbound 680 coming from the sunol grade to fremont so we will rack that.

i will show you the san mateo bridge with more traffic but it is moving. there are quite a few extra cars from hayward to foster city. >> day three of the bart strike. the negotiations are in a "pause" after a marathon session that lasted until almost 3:00 a.m. >> the workers do not hear what going on with the negotiations so we rushed over here to tell them what happened overnight and they say they think it is a good sign. we saw a sign that it was going to be a long night at 9:00 p.m. when food was brought in for the negotiators. both sides came to the table when the governor sent two high-level mediators.

they will be back at 1:00 o'clock this afternoon. when we heard that we came to the picket line to get reaction. >> it brightened my mood. thank you. this is starting to feel normal. unfortunately. that is not good. i would rather be doing anything but this. as an adult this is probably the worse, being on strike, is the worse job i have had. >> the workers will continue to be on strike today and will man the picket lines but they are hoping they will not do this much longer. >> no word on how the negotiations are going. we checked with both sides and they both say they have been advised not to discuss the specifics but we do know they are talking. the workers consider that progress. the bay bridge toll plaza has been a source of frustration to many commuters during the bart strike. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard will show us what he is

seeing. >> a lost backed up cars. low and slow-and-go. all ten cash lanes are, pad up. remark is at a crawl. it picked up as early as 4:30 this morning, a bigger backup earlier than monday and tuesday. petroleum are obviously trying to get a jump on the commute. metering lights are on and fast track is moving better but if waiting in the carpool lanes closest to us. carpool if you can. we have heard a lot of frustrated drivers and salty language. this is the day before a holiday and people should be in a good mood but today, taught -- not so much. >> a.c. transit is offering

expanded bus service into san francisco during the bart strike and abc7 news reporter joins us from oakland. matt, how are the lines? >> getting longer. frustration at 20th and broadway. we are waiting for the bus to arrive at 6:03. check out the four people at the front of the line could not get on the first transbay bus because it was too full and now they are waiting for the next bus. the first bus was late and you can see how full it was when it arrived and the workers tried to get riders to squeeze in tight but the doors closed leaving some behind to wait for the next bus. >> i took 6:03 yesterday and i was 15 minutes late so i took the 5:33 and i missed it by one. >> it will be offer by monday i am sure. >> we saw some extra buses come here before 7:00 yesterday but

we not sure what to expect today. what we do know is the latest bus is late. it was scheduled to aidentify -- arrive at 6:03. we can see the next bus coming but we don't know how full it is. we do not know if everyone waiting in line will be able to get in this bus or if they have to wait for another half hour for the next bus. >> bart is shifting buses for the free shuttle service to accommodate higher demand with 20 buses to pick up passengers at the walnut creek bart station seven more than yesterday and monday. yesterday they ran out of seats for walnut creek passengers. the first-come-first-serve shuttle is free at one five designated bart stations from san francisco's transby --

transbay terminal. and our general manager said there were more early birds trying for a seat in walnut creek and there will be 20 shuls until 8:00 a.m. at the walnut creek with ten at fremont and dublin/pleasanton bart and seven at el cerrito. 32 shuttle buses will be serving the stations and will be free. you can park at the bart stations for free. >> many families who normally come to san francisco on the fourth of july are making other plans if the bart strike continues tomorrow. last year 182,000 riders used bart to get around the bay area. many rode the train to avoid parking problems around pier 39. 200,000 people are expected if

san francisco this year for the 9:30 p.m. fireworks display and for opening ceremony of the america's cup which takes place at 3:00 p.m. >> back to the roadways with cell 7 using cell phone technology to bring you the traveling traffic reports. dick, you are on 24? right? this looks to be an earlier back up that goes further back? >> it is. highway 24 westbound commute is rough. speaking of the fourth of july fireworks, if you live in walnut creek and concord and east that need 24 to get to san francisco your commute is starting off with a bang. when you get through the tunnel you will see the brake lights and the traffic slows to a crawl the i am in the two right lanes which encourage us to go to the toll plaza and i am not moving.

the two right lanes are stopped and i am a mile from the split to head to san francisco to go to the toll plaza. the three left lanes -- rather, two left lanes that did not go into san francisco have also slowed but they still moving. the highway 24 commute this morning is a rough one and we have good packup and stopped traffic. i am still a mile from the off-ramp that goes to the toll plaza. >> thank you, dick. when he said "good backup," he means "bad" backup. leyla gulen? >> we have a couple of accidents. we had a rot of a stalled car on the bay bridge and it could have been cleared. it was blocking a lane westbound 80 at treasure island but as you approach treasure island from the maze out of berkeley it is bumper-to-bumper traffic so the

pictures do not lie. in fremont we have an accident involving backups from michigan boulevard so heavy conditions there. to the peninsula northbound 101 at broadway the crash is cleared but left us with this traffic at 14 miles per hour approaching the slow down it starts to dissipate. our drive time traffic at 580 from tracy to dublin is 40 minutes and highway 4, walnut creek to the maze at 56 minutes and 17 minutes along 80 headed away from highway four to the maze. the golden gate bridge shows traffic is moving smoothly but filled with fog. from sausalito it is hard to see. use your low beams, not your high beams. mike nicco? >> thank you, leyla gulen. live doppler 7 hd shows it is dry this morning. the excessive heat warning i

mentioned yesterday will be extended through thursday and the national weather service extended the so the highs could reach the low 100's for the next 24 to 36 hours. the next 12 hours around the bay, we start off with cloud cover in san francisco down the peninsula to the south bay and not so much in the east bay. mostly sunny by noon and 74 and 84 by 4:00 and 76 for the evening. inland neighborhoods especially the east bay, it will be hottest, temperatures near 100 at 4:00 after being 90 at noon and we are cooler this morning, in the 60's rather than the 70's and at the coast the day planner the next 12 hours is clouds and mid-50's and clouds and mid-60's by noon and hanging in the mid-60's with more sunshine by 4:00 and the clouds will gather at 7:00 with just a light beat and low 60's.

crowded. if you look at the second line forming we showed you 30 minutes ago the first ferry that at 6:00 a.m. the line extended beyond the dock into the parking lot and new there are two lines forming one away from san francisco and one to san francisco. the commuters are enjoying the ride but people would always ride the ferry, not necessarily bart commuters have had to adjust their schedule to be able to get a seat on their regular ride. >> it is earlier each day. yesterday i was here at 5:30, today at 5:15, i want to get a seat and a place to park. it is crazy. if you do not get on early you do not get on at all. >> a couple of different amenities at alameda main street ferry station. one is free bicycle valet.

this is also free shuttles taking you from different location and auxiliary parking and extra packing. the route to san francisco ferry is direct, this is no stop in oakland. the route to south san francisco is staying the same. >> the bart strike continues and a's fans are encouraged to come against the cubs beating the cubs last night 8-7 to move back into first place in front of 17,000 fans. a bigger crowd is expected tonight at the game which includes a fireworks show after the game. officials estimate between 15 percent to 18 percent of the fans take bart and that opening will not be there tonight. it is likely 9 team is opening all parking lots at the

coliseum. >> bart as an option is not available this morning and that is having an effect on the roads. leyla gulen? >> talk about crowds, the bay bridge is seeing a big crowd and it is 20 minutes to get from the maze over to the toll plaza and when you head in the westbound direction if san francisco you are still going to be seeing bumper-to-bumper traffic so it will be 30 minutes from point a to point b. the san mateo bridge is looking better and we do not see so many cars but we seeing more than the usual amount from hayward to foster city and that is now 15 minutes. on the golden gate bridge, it is clear in terms of traffic but not weather-wise because we have lots of fog. traffic is moving smooth through the tolls without a hitch. we will watch all the bridges

but for now we toss it over to mike nicco and the weather. mike? >> thank you, leyla gulen. good news with the low clouds, we do not have flight arrival delays so if you can get there everyone is coming in on time and our visibility at half moon bay is 2.5 miles. yesterday we were down to quarter-mile visibility at times if mount tamalpais it is 78 degrees on hamilton and dab let is -- diabolo is 83. the sun is coming up, heating the ground, overturning the atmosphere is we will be hot again especially in the east bay today and tomorrow. summer spread tomorrow, it will be coolest at the coast at 60 but we could be 100 inland a 40-degree spread. we will be back to normal with all of us in the east bay by the week. the cloud cover shows by 10:00 it stars to retreat quickly to

the coast and we will see pockets of sunshine develop in the afternoon hours. we will reach the 90's in the south bay and the further south you are the less influence of the wind and 98 if loss get and 99 in gilroy and a lot of mid-to-upper 80's and even millbrae but the coast is mid-to-upper 60's and mid-70's in south san francisco with more sunshine and same in sausalito at 78. san rafael is 88. petaluma is the cool spot at 86 and everyone else is in the low-to-mid 90's but beaches are 30 degrees cooler in the mid-to-upper 80's. a lot of low-to-mid 80's but where the sea breeze will have an influence around oakland and berkeley and richmond and mid-to-upper 70's so delightful there. no such luck in the east bay valley upper 90's to low 100's.

decide whether though want to go to san francisco westbound on 580 or hayward eastbound on 580 and it is just stopped. this is spheres. the commute has not been pretty. >> more of a grind than yesterday. thank you, dick. good thing dick has always been a patient man. >> now the other top stories this morning. new details on shooting deaths of two restaurant employ ease at a wingstop. two men wearing orange construction vote ofs ran to the freezer in the restaurant possible because they felt threatened. two employees followed them in the freezer and were shot by a man. >> pg&e crews are working to restore power to 88 customers in the south bay. 9,500 lost electricity during the height of the heat yesterday and crews were working haunt stop to fix the problem they

blamed on too many turning up the air conditioning at the same time. the remaining customers should have power restored by 8:00 a.m. >> and in prescott, 3,000 people came together on a high school football field to pay respects and 19 members of the elite hotshots crew died battling the massive wildfire. >> day three of the bart strike and negotiations are on hold, with a bargaining session stretching into the usually morning weapon bart and the unions get back to the bargain ing table. >> from the traffic center, no sugar coating, the freeways are jam packed. the toll plaza shows metering lights on early with what an hour to get from the maze to the san francisco.

backed to the sunol grade. very heavy conditions. this is the walnut creek commute and in the southbound direction 680 away from highway 4 there are center cars but it is 10 to 12 minute drive to the junction. >> today negotiations between bart and the unions will resume at 1:00 o'clock p.m. after a session that ended just before 3:00 in the morning. and abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield continues the reporting. >> it was busy for negotiations and workers think that is good. they did not break if dinner. we saw food being brought in at 9:00 last night. they came to the table at 6 pock -- 6:30 including top mediators from the state. they finally decided to break at

will be back, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. this afternoon 679 both sides are cautious and quiet and not giving us specific. they are talking. these workers say that is good news. >> anyone who has driven through the bay bridge toll plaza can tell you the delays can be frustrating and more is today. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has coverage from there. cornell? >> i am just going to say it is ugly out here. slow-and-go traffic. motorcyclists are showing off for us here. toll plaza is jammed. this commute is quite a mess. all lanes are backed up and traffic is picking up as early as 4:30 this morning. this is an earlier and bigger backup than monday and tuesday with people obviously trying to get a jump open things.

metering lights are on. fast track is moving better, but this waiting in carpool lanes closest to us, carpool to work if you can which is three or more people but you must have fast track. one man said as he crawled by it took two hours to get here from contra costa county. not a good morning for him and thousands of other frustrated drives who were just trying to get to work. >> we will continue with our reporter at 20th and broadway with folks waiting for a.c. transit buses. >> an idea of how long the line is at 20th street, you can see the line extends all the way to broadway. is it better or worse than yesterday? a.c. transit appears to be

better. a passenger on the first bus left at 5:40 and arrived at the terminal she texted me and that was at 6:10, taking half an hour. people on the last bus had an easier time getting on. it wasn't very full and the people waiting if line were able to get on. a man i spoke with said it was the first attempt to get to work sin the bart strike started. >> why did you stay out work? >> i saw the news. i knew it would be chaos. >> you are hoping for the best? >> hopefully. >> the passengers on the first bus had a pleasant ride but four people were last behind because the bus was too full and they had to wait half an hour for the next bus. a.c. transit said they are fought running center buses this morning but starting at 7:00 this will be three buses an hour. the next bus was scheduled to be here at 6:33 and it is 6:35 so

>> we have plenty of traffic out there with a couple of things that are clearing. at the maze we have a report of a stalled car, westbound 580 blocking one lane. look at that. it is solid red into emeryville. also on 80 westbound headed to the maze, this crash is cleared southbound 680 but look the at backup, five miles. nine miles per hour is the top speed. mass transit and bart is not in service but ace rains are seven to ten-minute delay. as we look outside, we could possible show you the bay bridge

toll plaza where it is moving at only a minimal amount except for the carpool lanes. we say hello to mike nicco and the weather department. >> thank you, leyla gulen. a couple of items of good news. live doppler 7 hd is dry. the commute will not be so hot. we are from 2 to 8 degrees cooler than yesterday. it is 65 in fairly. and 63 in san ramon. same in mountain view and los gatos and 62 in san jose. 60 in concord and hayward. oakland, dress for 61. mid to upper 50's at half moon bay and san francisco and novato and santa rosa. as far as what will happen today, we will see temperatures around 56 to 63, the next 12

long are line than we saw for early risers who took the first boat at 6:00 a.m. remember, the ferries to san francisco this morning are not stopping in oakland, that is a change because of the strike so it is a direct strip to the ride from south san francisco is regular schedule. one bart rider is very unhappy. >> shame on the unions. not too happy. like a lot of people. it is a bad public move for bart. win i had another way to get to work i would never take bart again. >> ridership yesterday morning slightly less than monday morning coming from san francisco bay pam -- spokesman but triple the normal amount the ferry would see on a week day and speaking of the schedule he says they are working on a

special post holiday weekend schedule for friday, saturday and sunday which will be released in a couple of hours. >> katie marzullo, both sides are worried about what the last gentleman say, if he had the option he would never ride bart again. >> with a strike, you always worry about that. the roads do not look to be re-holiday light. >> and cars are the popular mode transportation. in the westbound direction 580 to the westbound 80 connection we have a stalled car with plenty of backup. the drive time traffic shows 580 westbound from delaycy to castro valley is 44 minute, and four from antioch to the maze and that is an hour and from highway 4 to the maze is 31 minute commute. the berkeley drive is traveling along 80 westbound you can see how cars are bumper to bumper.

the consolation is mike nicco has a warm trust ahead. >> it is cooler this only but it will still be hot this afternoon so hopefully the car has not overheated. live doppler 7 hd showing clouds hanging away the coast and the bay with no flight arrival delays at sfo and the big story is the same areas under the excessive heat warning and it was pushed back until thursday at 7:00 as we talked about yesterday. from mount tamalpais you can see clouds on the marine layer which is thicker this morning than it was but, still, the sunshine this afternoon and the heat holding on in the east bay and it could be 40 degrees between the coast and inland and everyone sees the temperatures pull back to normal this weekend. low-to-mid 90's with near 100 in los gatos and goal provide and -- gilroy and 80 in millbrae.

the coast is mid-to-upper 60's and closest to normal and everyone else is above like 73 in downtown and 75 in south san francisco five degrees warmer-than-average. 86 in petaluma, the cool spot in the north bay valley and everyone else in the low-to-mid 90's and the beaches are mid-to-upper 60's and mid-to-upper 70's berkeley and oakland. it will be 100 again in many of our east bay inland neighborhoods. another win and fireworks tonight with pitch at 74 cool down to 66 so have a blanket and a sweatshirt from the field. 100 tomorrow again in the east bay and we drop in the 90's and everyone inland in the 80's over the weekend and 70's around the bay and 60's at the coast. it will feel. better by then. >> we will take you back to cell
